Fifteen
years ago, Canadian artisan James M. Brooks founded
Bike Leather Co. on belt making. From classic to
funky, Bike Leather Belts were the hit
accessory for the specialty jeans stores of downtown
Toronto. The Queen St. W. scene spawned a line
of belts and bags with a look of the classic/industrial
combo, rivets over stitching, designed to be durable
with a bold fashion twist. The bulletproof appearance
of the goods fit the mood of the times.

Bike Leather
in the early ‘90s Toronto era set the
philosophy for the company: integrity, pride,
craftsmanship, innovation and stylishness.
Bringing those virtues on the return back
to his roots in Old Chelsea PQ, James Brooks
spent the ‘90s decade at the Hollow
Glen lodge refining the Bike designs and
in all-round perfecting the art of his leather
working. He also secretly developed and created Tera,
a line of complimentary leather and jewelry
products specifically for female styles. Tera is
due for release in spring 2003. |

The
Bike Leather Co. style for the new millennium is
true to its original task. It is now the elite
evolution of the original movement. It is a re-industrialization
of the sleek & classic styles, with a measured
retreat from overbuilt indestructibility to the
appearance of a more versatile cross-town esthetic.
Designer James M. Brooks has created a nouveau
haut ville look to let Bike Leather Co. adapt
to our digital futures while retaining the traditional
legendary styles rooted in the earth.
